What drives Thunder Bay prices
Thunder Bay is a Lake Superior port and grain terminal, and it is the western terminus of the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway. Grain moves through the port, and the Seaway position ties the city to water freight across the system. Thunder Bay also sits at the Highway 11 and Highway 17 junction, tying it to the northern Ontario road network. A port and grain terminal at the head of the Seaway, with two highways meeting here, is what shapes the local fuel market, anchoring it to both water and road freight.
